I won`t need to undergo ankle surgery, assures Ishant

I won`t need to undergo ankle surgery, assures Ishant
New Delhi: Indian paceman Ishant Sharma is confident that he would not require surgery to recover from an ankle injury, which had forced him to miss the One-day series during the recently concluded fateful England tour.

The tall but skinny bowler has been undergoing a rehabilitation programme at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore.

"Though I`m yet to bowl with full run-up, but my rehab is progressing well. I will start bowling at full pace soon. Thanks to my rehab program, I am sure I won`t need surgery," Ishant said.

Ishant spearheaded India`s attack in England in the absence of senior pro Zaheer Khan.

The gangly fast bowler is confident that India would be able to avenge their defeat against England when they will host England soon.

"We would give England a taste of their own medicine," the Delhi bowler told News Channel `Aaj-Tak`.

India were whitewashed 0-4 in Test series and 0-3 in the five-match One-day series as several key players suffered injuries during the nightmarish tour of England.

India not only surrendered their number one Test rank but also slipped to number five in ODIs.

Hauritz undergoes facial surgery after pub brawl

Hauritz undergoes facial surgery after pub brawlMelbourne: Out-of-favour Australia off-spinner Nathan Hauritz underwent a facial surgery after being hurt in a night club brawl recently in Hervey Bay, Queensland.

Following the incident which occured a fortnight ago, Cricket Australia had penalised Hauritz but refused to release the details of the penalty, according to a report.

CA general manager of cricket operations, Micheal Brown said that even though the incident was investigated by police, the 29-year-old spinner did not press charges against anyone.

"By his own admission Nathan said he was immature and silly. He had a few drinks. The incident occurred. Nathan was struck by a patron," he said

"Nathan has chosen not to lay any charges, which is his right. We`ve investigated the matter and determined the matter has been resolved internally.

"I have great sympathy for what Nathan has been through. No person deserves to get whacked in the face. All parties are happy with the outcome and we move on. He`s a bit sheepish and he`s learnt a valuable lesson," Brown was quoted as saying by a daily.

Hauritz, however, has been cleared to represent New South Wales in the Champions League Twenty20 tournament beginning in India later this month.
